Selectmen fans of Flame: Church is now the preferred senior center location - Abington, MA - Abington Mariner Abington Selectmen unanimously supported purchasing the Flame of Fire Church, located at 441 Summer St., as Abington’s first senior center during the board’s meeting on Monday night.
The board voted not to sign a debt exclusion to purchase Griffin’s Dairy property on Pattison Street until the church has been sold. Prior to their meeting on Monday, the board had been supporting researching both properties at the same time.
“We owe it to the seniors, we owe it to them to move as quickly as possible,” said chairman Robert Wing. 9/13/2007
I guess having Town Manager Phil Warren publicly state that the plans the Seniors created and the information that the School Committee generated (wetlands plan and soils investigation) "the information is NO GOOD" is close enough to an admission that mistakes were made. I can only hope that the Board of Selectmen publicly acknowledge that the information is flawed before more tax dollars are wasted. Keep in mind that it is the Board of Selectmen that MUST defend the Town of Abington's Plan of Record for the Griffin's Dairy wetlands boundary delineation dated November 11, 2005. 2005 WETLANDS PLAN.

Before anymore of the taxpayers’ money is wasted it would be time for our elected officials to realize the mistakes that have been made and publicly acknowledge that the present information on record is incorrect.
Peter Schafer, Supt. of Schools and chairman of the Middle School Site Selection Committee, has stated that there are people who don’t agree with the work that’s been done, but the work that has been done was approved by all the appropriate boards and commissions.
In my opinion, although approved, that does not mean accurate and in this case not even close.
