 Questions from Jim Dombrowski

Q1.  How can a commission or board close a public hearing  when it is lacking a piece of crucial information that is required to complete that hearing?

Answer: This is an ethical question on how a board or commission properly conducts the towns business and whether they follow the proper procedures of the laws and regulations they represent and for which they swore to uphold.

Q2. How can a conservation commission issue a document when the meeting was CANCELLED?

Answer:This is an ethical question on how a board or commission properly conducts the towns business and whether they follow the proper procedures of the laws and regulations they represent and for which they swore to uphold.

Q3. How can Peter Schafer, Chairman of the Middle School Site Selection Committee, acknowledge that Bellows Circle has seasonal flooding issues but that the portion of Griffin's Dairy in Abington has NO floodplain?

Answer: The NFIP and FEMA Floodplain map was not read correctly. A Zone "C" area has always been classified as "an area not determined". This means that the 100 year floodplain has NOT been determined for the Abington portion of this parcel. Credible evidence supports that there is a floodplain present on the Abington portion.

Q4. When a document is filed with a board or commission in which the applicant is the Town of Abington is it not proper that town counsel represent the town for legal purposes?

Answer: Town Counsel is responsible for the legal matters that the Town gets itself involved with.

Q5. When another attorney represents the town is it not normally approved by our elected officials or thru town meeting?

Answer: Waiting for a repsonse.

Common sense says it should be.

Q6. How can the Town's Chief Procurement Officer spend an amount of money for an environmental assesment of a piece of property and NOT ask for a report?

Answer: Waiting for a repsonse.

Q7. Why did the Town's Chief procurement Officer approve of updating a donated individuals old plan rather than create a new one that could be said was created by the Town?

Answer: Waiting for a repsonse.

Q8. Why is it our elected officials do things that make us ask so many questions that they have NO answers for?

Answer: It's called Town of Abington politics and the  "this is what we want" attitude.

Q9. What did the Soil Investigation that was requested by the School Department accomplish?

Answer: If you read the report it gives in every test pit they dug the same analysis. " dark brown, WET.   gray, WET."    What was actually accomplished was a report that supports  the wet meadow conditions that exist. You don't read the words "dry". The actual terminology for the wet soils is "saturated" and those soils exists over 80% of the Griffin Dairy parcel. The soils should of been examined by a soils scientist and classified using USDA texture guidelines.

The Unified system is solely for engineers who really have no knowledge of soils as we speak. The engineers are merely looking for weight capacity and loading potentials. The observations of water were performed as such: open the pit see water and note the depth. The test pits should be monitored over a period of time.
